This easy to sew quilt pattern uses a modified log cabin quilt block pattern to make a quilt that is 60"x72" in size. Thirty blocks are sewn from 3 1/2 inch strips of fabric. Workshop presented for youth 12 and older with some experience in sewing and use of the rotary cutter. Participants will cut fabrics, sew several blocks, and finish quilt following workshop. We will introduce you to 4-H Quilt Quest resources and help with your quilting questions.

Participants should bring:

  • 1/3 yard of 10 different coordinating colorful fabric blocks
  • 1 1/2 yards of a contrasting lighter fabric for blocks
  • 1/2 yard for binding (can be the same as on of above fabrics) (not needed for class)
  • thread to blend fabrics
  • 4 yards of backing fabric (or you can buy extra colorful fabric to piece the back) (not needed for class)
  • twin size batting (may not need if long-arm quilted, quilter may supply) (not needed for class)
  • rotary fabric cutter & mat (if you have available)
  • adult helper (recommended
